Dont Bullshit. Just Think.

I Deny Your Reality

“I started a blog, and as it turns out I mainly write about philosophy. I love philosophy.” — “No, philosophy is nothing for me. I could never live in my head like that.”

“I’m a passionate football player.” — “No, I can’t stand ball sports.”

Have you ever experienced something similar in a dialog? What an egocentric slip of the tongue, which allows you to glimpse at the self-focused perspective I (the speaker) bear. I literally deny your reality and substitute my own. I pretend your experience does not exist. And I also display terrible listening skills.

What do I really deny you, when I deny your reality? You doubt everything anyhow (once you took The Cartesian Journey). You know the only thing you can be sure of is that you experience. When I deny your experience, I deny the only thing you have left. That’s probably too much denial for one carelessly uttered sentence.

Thanks to Alex B. for the inception.
