Dont Bullshit. Just Think.

Tomorrowland

I reliably cry in movies. Always in the scene where the protagonist does something unexpectedly righteous. I don’t cry at sad scenes, I cry when someone shows great character & humanity.

Tomorrowland didn’t make me cry. It made me think. In the movie Tomorrowland, our creative minds get held back by the dystopian media. To fix it, the heroes try to oppose it with a great utopian story, the story of the wonderful Tomorrowland, which is filled with enthusiasm for science & invention.

How many dystopian stories have you enjoyed in the last year?
How many utopian ones?

Geeks like me joke about the apocalypse all the time. Our media have a dystopian bias — they tend to report catastrophes over breaktroughs. How will we be able to create our utopian future when our minds constantly wander around in dystopias?

We don’t talk nearly enough about the utopian vision of earth in the Star Trek series or in the Culture series. Let’s create, think about and enjoy more stories about utopias — and use them to discuss a positive future. Let’s talk about Tomorrowland!
